These days a lot of companies are offering remote jobs. And for that reason lot of people are considering becoming a digital nomad.

According to Wikipedia

Digital nomads are people who conduct their life in a nomadic manner while engaging in remote work using digital telecommunications technology.

As a digital nomad, you can save a lot of money if you choose to live in affordable places in the world.

Today we are going to review India which is a very diverse country and can be a really fascinating experience for a digital nomad.

Why choose India?

India has a large English-speaking population. So as a foreigner it is very easy to mix into the people and culture.

Indians are very welcoming towards foreigners. And as a foreigner, you would never feel like a foreigner or lonely even if are from another country.

There is a large community of Expats and if you ever feel like you want to connect with someone from your own country it's easy to find them.

If you stick to the select metro cities-it's a pretty safe country for foreigners. It's safe for children also.

Safety of Women in India

Although there are cases of sexual assaults on female tourists. North India can particularly be very unsafe for women if you’re traveling alone.

But Western India and the city of Pune where I live are known to be the safest places for women. Most women comfortably go out alone for shopping or anything else.

Which cities to Choose

Big metro cities like Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Bangalore, and Hyderabad are one of the most comfortable places to live as a foreigner. These cities contain all the modern facilities that other big cities would offer like Quick Delivery of groceries and online ordering through Amazon.

These cities have access to International Airports, Shopping Malls, Multiplexes, cheap public transport, and International Schools which provide education of international standards.

I currently live in Pune and it's very cosmopolitan. You can find all the best brands and major hotels here. It has access to International Airport also.

Benefits

India has one of the strictest gun laws in the world. As a result incidents of mass shootings are almost none to zero. If this is something that concerns you. You will really appreciate that. Please check the below link to read more.

House help available for $ 100–$150 per month

You can hire a maid or house help who would clean your home, wash utensils and cook a one-time meal daily for just $ 100–150 per month.

Hiring people for any kind of help is very affordable here.

Affordable Healthcare

Healthcare costs in India are the lowest compared to other countries. Even comparing on purchasing power parity (PPP) basis. It is often considered a favorite destination for medical tourism.

The above statistics are good enough indicators that show that healthcare is quite affordable in India.

India is also known to be the manufacturing hub of pharmaceutical products and medicines. Also known as the World’s Pharmacy. Therefore the cost of medicines is amongst the lowest in the world.

Lower Inflation and Stable Economy

Due to India’s Neutral foreign policy. The country maintains friendly relationships with most other countries of the world.

As a result, our military spending is much lower and the government is able to put that money into the development and economic welfare of the citizens.

As a result, the inflation rates in India would remain relatively low and its economy will remain considerably stable immune to the global politics and hyperinflation, and economic crises.

Housing and Rent

I live in one of the most affluent areas of Pune City which is among the best metro cities in India.

I currently pay just $ 300 per month for a three-bedroom apartment with a size of 1300 Square Feet. As a digital nomad, $ 300 is quite affordable.

Buying a full house

If you want to live in a metro city a three-bedroom apartment would cost you anywhere around $ 100,000 to $ 150,000.

If you go a little far in suburbs you can build/construct a full bungalow on a lot for under $ 90,000.

Cheaper Internet

India has currently the world’s lowest mobile data rates in the world. With 100 MBPS fiber broadband costing just $ 12 per month.

I am currently paying $ 12 a month for a fiber broadband plan with a speed of 100 Mbps.

Cost of Living in India

You can live a comfortable middle-class lifestyle with just a budget of 1000–1500 $ per month in India.

Most people who work remotely easily earn around $ 5000–6000 per month and at that rate you can easily save around $ 4000 per month.

At this rate, you can buy a full apartment in just 2 years of savings.

As a result, you can save a lot of money and you can use that money to buy a home or make your future financially secure.
